Why is the Neonatal Mortality Remains Stagnant in Ethiopia?

Abstract

The neonatal period is the most vulnerable time fora child’s survival. Children face the highest risk ofdying in their first month of life at an averageglobal rate of 18 deaths per 1,000 live births in2018 (1). Though remarkable progress was madein reducing under-five children mortally, stillapproximately 5.4 million under-five children dieglobally each year. Of these, close to half (2.5million) deaths occur on neonates (1). The otherinequality is that majority of these deaths occur inlow-and middle-income countries (2).
